    How to create a Instagram account for your child

    Instagram usernames are first-come-first-served and rarely freed up. Reserve your child's now, set the account to private, and keep it dormant until they're old enough to use it.

    Setup steps

    1. 1Download the Instagram app or visit instagram.com
    2. 2Click 'Sign up' and enter the email you created
    3. 3Create a strong password unique to Instagram
    4. 4Enter your child's desired username
    5. 5Add a profile photo and bio (can be minimal for now)
    6. 6Set the account to Private in Settings > Privacy
    7. 7Enable two-factor authentication in Security settings

    Parent pro tips

    • Set the account to Private immediately to protect their content
    • Usernames can be changed later, but early reservation is key
    • Consider leaving the account inactive until they're ready to use it
